German cooking, my buddy, end-of-Ramadan party and BBQ in Kentucky
This week it was finally time . After I and Verena had the last month for pretty much any grandly trumpeted around that we cook German food would soon, it was so slow at the time to redeem our pledge. But when we were discussing
, who then things turned out, we realized pretty quickly that it is clearly too many people for our small kitchen and especially the very sparse facilities were so we had to decide. It was not easy, as most Americans are very interested in Germany and definitely want to try that we so highly praised German food. In the end it ran out then "only" 10 people and the others were put off until later. First
was originally planned to cook steak with fries, but it quickly became clear to us that for 10 people and with only a frying pan was not feasible. So I have decided to Verena and pancakes with various fillings.
On Wednesday evening we went to Walmart and Suzy then we had to start once a major shopping and then get started on Thursday. With his usual punctuality
American wobbled the first guests a quarter hour later than agreed with us and start of the German-evening could.

On Friday afternoon I met up with me, my buddy. Each
international student gets out of college here with an American buddy (which means as much as a friend) is assigned to which it spread throughout the semester to spend at least 16 hours. Many of these buddies show here at the university German courses or just have to go even before the next semester to Germany.
My buddy is Kayla and is a 20 year girl. First we had to take office abroad in order to clarify some technical things and make this wonderful photo in front of the map: D
ham and then we both put us on the lawn and talked. I was really a bit nervous because I did not know what one person was assigned to me, but thank God there is the love Kenta. Kenta (you know him already sure of a few images here in my blog) works in the international office and I gave him all the way and said that I would prefer a female buddy with whom I could then go shopping again and the next day He then came to me and proudly told me Kayla with the sentence: "I've found a buddy for you. She's a girl and loves shopping! "Proposed.
Very cool.
And as it turns out during the conversation, Kenta has made a very good choice. Kayla is really very nice and we have many things in a similar setting. They also gave me the same orientation, that their mom would like to invite me to their house once for dinner and that I necessarily have to go to a football game and of course the shopping mall in ne ... Sounds great so far everything very well.
Tomorrow night she comes to me and then we cook together. Let's see, is whether the good impression holds.
After I met up with Kayla, we went to a meeting of internationals, in which we know about "Taiwan" learned the homeland of Trista. In two weeks, then we Germans are with our presentation about our home in the series ... So if one of you knows something that absolutely everyone should know about Germany, forth with the proposals!
from After the meeting we went to the canteen and I have since long time "eaten cafeteria food, and although I really held back quite badly, one and only one piece of cheese pizza, and half a burger (with Verena) eaten did, have I am so fat and bloated feeling that after only times a nap (nap) was necessary. And I really do not know how others are doing that. We sat around with 7 other Americans at the table and have something to cut in, I really can not understand how then could get up at all ...?
Well, at least we have another round and are then slept then Ali his party. Ali had to fast the last few weeks, as Ramadan was on Friday and then came the "End-of-Ramadan party". She should go off at seven, because we only had a little something to drink with him at home and wanted to continue in the bar, but when I ne, Verena Trista and then at half past nine - with a relatively bad conscience because we were so late - when he got home, we were actually the first! Incredible! Americans are really anything but on time and sometimes anything but reliable ...
But after some time, but then the house filled relatively quickly and it was a great evening! Ali us lay for weeks in the ears, that we are after his party would all be "fish-faced", which simply means that we on the next morning all would totally look like finished and that he also had the right: D
But in my defense I have it still managed to Saturday noon in the to spend library. That is so slow there's always more to do and I am under some pressure ...
Before the other guests came to us Ali has not shown very proud of what he has for German music on his laptop and he can even sing along to some songs .. .

Our after-party snack
Adam went to the party no longer with us, because he just had very early the next day and was also pretty good about it. We were a little worried, so he then called me on the way home to order me to always keep up to date, where exactly in P-City, he is straight (especially since I am so well versed): D
Kenta enjoys eating
Sunday was then almost only food ... Oh man, I do not think about it!
The day had started so well. Verena and I had breakfast cereal and then we still each other declares no food before it would go to a barbecue, since you also need a little attention to his line.
So I am then made to my homework and then skyping with my parents. Suddenly Kenta stood in my room and has summarily also talk to my parents. And all of us have German lessons paid off! Without my help, he led the following conversation: "Good day Fluuuuhr family! How are you? Aaalright skype time! TschuuuuĆ! Aaalright evening! "
That was so funny!
After I hung up, Kenta invited us to take a small snack at Brian. The emphasis here is on "little" snack. And there was our whole project to be all right. Of course, I could not refuse and Verena's invitation and so we went to Brian. But the "little snack" then a visit to Melinis, the Italian restaurant and the single slice of pizza that I ordered, but was then the size of a Pizza children in Germany.
Shit.
We were so then already more than full meeting place for the barbecue in Kentucky.
A church in Kentucky had our international students that is invited to a giant barbecue on a farm. And as it should be for Americans, there were more than enough to eat. There were different types of meat, hot dogs, salads, and they even tried to cook international food. There were even sauerkraut with sausages (German for us), rice (the Chinese) and even kosher food for the Muslims. And do not forget the dessert. In it, the Americans are indeed very good. There were so many cakes, creams, muffins, .... and everything was so incredibly sweet! I personally really much too sweet, I can never more than a morsel of food, but the Americans and many internationals go fully into it.
On the day it was really super nice weather and the guys played volleyball and football and we are the famous American "Corn-Hall. Overall, the parish had given a lot of trouble with the barbecue and all international student even got a voucher for $ 10 Kroger gift from the community. Very nice.
But I was quite happy when we made dinner on the way home, because the town was about to start a church. And I got from my fellow student Sarah is already so few horror stories to the American churches, so that I could well do without it! So we went back quickly after
Portsmouth. There we visited then Kenta and Kristian and we are still full of crisps and grapes hit the stomach. (Verena has even Kenta still cooked pasta, since he had gotten nothing from the barbecue) and when I put to bed at night, I really could hardly breathe, so gorged I was: D

And here I take pictures of the Chinese, how to photograph it all: D yes I'm also turned to images, to keep you up to date, but the Chinese really use the cliche. You spend all day just so really from everything and everyone to take pictures. Very crazy: D
